Approximately 10 years after the establishment of the Maine Vaccine Board (MVB) in 2010, consulting firm BerryDunn conducted a third-party impact analysis to assess the efficacy of the MVB’s universal purchase program. Conducted over the most recent four-year operating period, the study reveals that the MVB, in partnership with the Maine Universal Childhood Immunization Program (MUCIP), saves insurance providers over $4 million annually. Moreover, the cost savings both exhibit a rising trend (totaling over $5 million over the last fiscal year studied), and accrue to the payers, which in turns lowers health insurance premiums for companies and individuals.
